JBN's Unique Three-Tiered Approach to Litigation:
JBN's Court Coverage Area: Illinois Circuit Courts - Illinois Federal District Courts (Northern, Central, & Southern) - Illinois State Appellate Courts (all districts) - Federal 7th Circuit Court of Appeals - Illinois Supreme Court - United States Supreme Court Business Litigation Disputes over contracts, warranties, and other issues can often lead to lawsuits being filed to enforce rights of one business against another. Since we counsel a variety of businesses, we often provide litigation services as well. We are frequently hired by non-former client business organizations to file various types of suits against partnerships or corporations to protect their rights. We typically investigate business defendants carefully to determine the ability of the company to hide behind layers of corporate shielding. Commercial litigation cases can often involve insurance companies representing a business organization under a liability policy. Our experience in dealing with these insurers helps us determine the viability of settlements during litigation. However, while settlement is usually a good choice, we remain ready to go to trial if needed. We recognize that litigation costs can be unpredictable and expensive for many businesses. As such, JBN is one of the few law firms which offers fixed rates for certain business litigation matters. Additionally, JBN can handle many business plaintiffs cases on contingent (percentage) rates. Personal Litigation Just as we represent businesses in litigation, we also represent individuals. The typical individual cases are: contractor disputes, boundary line disputes, and will/trust contests. We handle the case from the initial conference to the end of trial. If an appeal is necessary, we can also handle those aspects too. Appellate Practice Sometimes, the result received in the trial court is not favorable and the losing party can appeal that decision. If an appeal is requested, JBN can provide the appellate support services - including: notice of appeal filing, brief writing, and oral argument presentations. |
