Business Formation

Picture

The Situation

If you're here, you have probably already made an important decision - to start your own business. If you're like our other clients in your situation, you're terrified and have more questions than answers. A general sense of excitement is quickly overcome with doubt. We're here to tell you that other people have successfully started their business and we have helped them in that process. Indeed, you're taking the important first steps of finding a law firm with the business experience to guide you through the planning and formation process into the infancy year of your business.

Why You Should Choose Us

Starting a business can be one of the most satisfying experiences one can have. There are so many important decisions to make at the onset of starting a business that one wrong mistake can have tax and liability consequences later on. For example, should you form a corporation or a limited liability company? Should you remain a sole proprietorship or partnership? Should you be a for profit or a not for profit corporation? Should you and can you seek 501(c)(3) status to save income tax?

As you might imagine, it is important to have trusted legal counsel at the onset of your company's formation to guide you through the initial steps and through your company's infancy. That's why we're here. We know business because we run a business.

How We Do It

We are trusted advisors. Our interest is not in generating billable hours, but in seeing your business become successful. After all, your success is our success. We begin this process with an office consultation to discuss your idea, your goals, and how you should proceed. If you don't have the right team in place (accountant, financial institution, etc.) we make those recommendations. Most importantly, we discuss what your goals (both for the business and for you personally) are. After all, starting a business without knowing you goals is like flying in the dark.
